Creature of the Night

Night time, a place where I am at peace
A time when all is right
A single star in the evening sky
Lets me know I'm still alive
The moon lets me know I can still feel
Every feeling of the night lets me know that I belong
I am a Creature of the Night

Untitled as of yet

A cardinal sings
The bare branches sway
Snow covers the earth
A white blanket
That holds no warmth
A heart no longer beats
A soul no longer sings
A gravestone marks where she lies.
In the snow, under the tree
Where the cardinal sings

Teen Challenge

Left alone to think
About  my own life,
Choices that I made
Along my paths
Wondering what might have been
If things were only slightly different

If I didn’t mess up
And be sent to my Grandma’s
I wouldn’t have gone to Teen Challenge
And if it weren’t for Teen Challenge
I never would have learned some things about myself

I never would have learned
That I have a free spirit
I don’t like to be tamed,
To be controlled
I love to live life to the fullest degree I can
I love to make my own choices
And talk to my dear friends

If it weren’t for Teen Challenge,
I wouldn’t know my own will power
Or have my own wings
Be able to fly,
Along with my dear family

I wouldn’t have met Julian,
Or have my baby girl
I wouldn’t have come to Georgia,
And take life day by day
I wouldn’t be the woman I am today
Strong, loyal and independent

So here is a THANK YOU
To the people who influenced me
Sisters Kathy, Leslie, Kaitlyn, and Michelle,
And dear Brother Lin
Along with my own parents who did what was best for me
And my Grandma and Mr. Jim as well,
Who have made so many sacrifices for me
I love you all dearly,
And can never say thank you enough
I can only hope I have made you proud
Of the woman I have become

Sibling’s Importance

Theresa was a newborn
And I was 9 years old
I didn’t know what to think
Of this little bundle
Small and cute
Tiny and sweet
Having her around has made life such a treat

Caroline is 5, and such a special girl
She is my Special Needs darling
And she brings such joy to my world
Always has a smile
To brighten anyone’s day
Her giggle is the sound
Of fairies in the wind

Asa is my little man
And at only 3 years old,
He has a love that is sublime
He loves and loves and loves
And he just wants a few minutes of your time
To run around and play
He does this everyday
His voice makes me smile
And he is my lovely, only brother

How You Raised Me

Mamma wrote the book for me
The way a girl should live
Strong and independent
With lots of love to give
I made some bad decisions
Along my own life’s path
And yet she is always there for me
And loves me with all she has

Daddy held my hand
Along life’s rocky road
Always had an ear to lend
When things got out of hand
He never gave up on me
Though I gave up on myself
He helped me along my paths
He has great advice
We have hard times
And we have had laughs
And he loves me with all he has

My family

My husband is my rock,
My knight in shining armor
The one who keeps me sane
Even on my really rough days
He works so hard
Each and everyday
He supports me and loves me
Even when I am going insane

Our daughter is our light
Our little miracle child
She makes each day
A little brighter with her smile
She makes us see the truth
Of us and of our life
She is our little blessing
And we couldn’t ask for more

As you lay sleeping (for my daughter)

You lay there in your crib
Looking up at me
Your big blue eyes
follow me across the scene
You give a little sigh
As I lift you in my arms
You have no idea
What I would do to keep you in my arms

Your smile lights my life
In a way I never knew
Your little fingers hold my hand
And everything seems alright

I hold you against my breast
and hear your small quiet breaths
And as you lay sleeping
In my arms so safe and sound
I know you are my world
You are what I revolve around
